One of the oldest temples in the Kerala State, the Vadakkumnathan Temple is a classic example of the Kerala style of architecture and has many decorative murals and pieces of art. This is the venue of the world famous Pooram festival celebrated annually in April-May.

Neelkantheshwar Temple, Udaypur
Built in the 11th cent from red sandstone by the Parmara King Udayaditya, the temple is a real treat to the eyes. The proportions are perfect. The carving is awesome. The Hutheesingh Temple(built in the 19th cent) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, about 650km from this place has similar architecture.
The Sun Temple at Modhera
Built almost a 1000 years ago, the Sun Temple at Modhera is one of the few Sun Temples still standing. It is one of the most beautiful monuments of ancient times in Gujarat.
Kailasanathar Temple
The Kailasanathar temple was built by the Pallavas in the early 8th century CE. It is famous for its splendid vimana. It also contains numerous panels showing lord Siva as Nataraja in various postures.This temple was built by Pallava King Narasimhavarman II (Rajasimhan).
The Chola King Rajaraja Chola I visited this temple and named this temple as kachipettu periya thirukatrali(Stone Tenple of Kachipettu(ancient name of kanchipuram).It is believed by many archeologists that this kailasanathar temple must be the inspiration for Rajaraja Chola I to built the Tanjore Rajarajeeswaram temple.
Currently the temple is well maintained by Archaeological Survey of India
1204 A.D Baijnath Temple
The Baijnath temple in Himachal Pradesh is a 13th century temple dedicated to Siva as Vaidyanath, ‘the Lord of physicians’. It is situated in the foothills of Dhauladhars on Pathankot-Mandi highway. The two long inscriptions in the porch of the temple indicate that a temple of Siva existed on the spot even before the present one was constructed. The present temple is a beautiful example of the early medieval north Indian temple architecture known as Nagara style of temples. The Svayambhu form of Sivalinga is enshrined in the sanctum of the temple that has five projections on each side and is surmounted with a tall curvilinear Shikhara.
Kamateshwara temple, nandi hills
In the Bhoganandishwara temple complex in the Nandi Hills area 70 or so kilometers outside of Bangalore. This is a 1000 Year old collection of ruins, built by the Chola Dynasty.
Jain Temple interior
In Chaumukha Mandir (the four faced temple) in the Jain temple complex at Ranakpur. This temple was built in 1439 and has 1,444 carved marble pillars, no two of which are the same.

Adinath Temple - Ranakpur
One of the most beautiful Jain Temples in India, all carved in amber marble stone (same as in the Taj Mahal), 1441 columns inside each one differently carved and countless figures carved most exquisitely in stone.
